TBR Tuesday: The Dashwood Sisters' Secrets of Love

Most of us have books we've bought with all intentions of reading (or maybe just because it was cheap!), only to have them fade away on a shelf or disappear into a stack of books, never to be seen or thought of again.
TBR Tuesday is a way to talk about the books we own but haven't read, see what other people think about them, and help us decide whether to bump it up our list or knock it off completely.

On my TBR

Rosie Rushton

The Walker sisters have always lived a privileged life in their beloved Holly House in Sussex. Even though their father, Max Walker, has left the family to live with his new macrobiotic-food-obsessed trophy wife, Pandora, he has always doted on his girls. But then one day, reality crashes down around them when Max has a heart attack and passes away, uncovering the truth that he was knee deep in debt. The Walkers discover that their home is actually in Pandora's name and she decides she wants it back. So the family has to uproot their lives and move to the seaside town of Norfolk in an old cottage. What happens then…?

I picked this one up for $1 from Book Closeouts, and had all intentions of reading it this year for Jane in June.  I started it and everything, but for whatever reason, it just wasn't what I was in the mood for.  And then Allison told me she had just read Only Mr Darcy Will Do, which I had and was going to push back to next year - so I swapped 'em.
Have any of you read this one, or anything by Rosie Rushton?  Is it a keeper?

  1. I think this is a great idea! It could be very helpful.

I actually have not read or heard anything about this book. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help!

  2. I hadn't even heard of this book until this post! Sounds like a book you really need to be in the mood for. Only Mr. Darcy Will Do is one I really enjoyed.

  3. I've read this one. It's light and fun. Although the tone the characters often use sometimes appears weird considering the contemporary setting.

  4. I have not read this, but I do love Only Mr. Darcy Will Do!! But then again, I have not read anything by Kara Louise I didn't like. I might have to ad The Dashwood Sisters Secrets of Love to my TBR list and see if I can get into it.

  5. I saw this one on the shelf at my library, but couldn't stop & pick it up because I'd left my card...then when I got ready to check it out, someone had stolen it, haha...So it's definitely still on my To Read list :o)

  6. I loved this book. In my mind, she really captured the spirit and tone of S&S, even though it takes place in contemporary England. It's a little different, as modern teens aren't considered adults ready for marriage like they were in the Regency. This is definitely a YA retelling, which makes it different from most Austen-related fiction out there.

Tell me all your thoughts.
Let's be best friends.
