Austen Acrostic from Amanda Grange

Judging by the acrostic poems we had during Fairy Tale Fortnight, and now this one from very popular Austen author, Amanda Grange, I am left to conclude that they are making a comeback...
Enjoy!

Jane, I know you liked word games, so here’s an acrostic for you.
A long time ago (to be exact, two hundred years),
No one but your family and friends had ever heard of you.
Everyone thought you were what you appeared to be,

An ordinary woman, living an ordinary life, in a quiet corner of England,
Until you unleashed
Sense and Sensibility on the world.
Timeless, immortal,
Elinor and Marianne set the stage for what was to come.
Now we have all of your books and all of your brilliant characters.

Wentworth and Anne; Edmund and Fanny;
Edward and Elinor; Henry and Catherine;

Lizzy and Darcy; Emma and Knightley; Brandon and Marianne.
Of all the books ever written, yours are the ones we most cherish.
Vigorous, vital,
Entertaining and enlivening,

You take us beyond ourselves.
Often copied, never bettered.
Until people no longer read, your books will be adored.

Jane Austen, we love you.

Amanda
