Friday Face Off: Ultimate Swoon-Off

I've decided for this year's Jane in June, we're going to have a head to head battle of the boys.  Or, a little something I like to call Ultimate Swoon-Off.  Basically, the Swoon-Off will be broken into brackets, with 8 of Austen's heroes are going to be paired up in a cage match of to-the-death hottieness.  In Round 1 the 8 hotties will face off, with 4 emerging with a sheen of manly sweat and a victory.  In week 2, the 4 victors will move on to bracket 2, where they will again go head to head, with just 2 winners who will move on to the final round.  These last 2 standing will duke it out (in a very gentlemanly way, of course), with the #1 Austen hero being crowned in the final week.
So ladies, get out your folding fans and prepare to go ringside and fight for your man - in a very ladylike way, of course... ;P

Round 1:
(pairs have been randomly drawn)

Henry Tilney vs. Edward Ferrars

Fitzwilliam Darcy vs. Edmund Bertram

Colonel Brandon vs. George Knightley

Frederick Wentworth vs. Charles Bingley

Alright.  It's up to you now.  Whether you've read the books, seen the movie or are just voting on the pretty, pretty pictures, leave your vote for each head-to-head in the comments!
The winner of each bracket will move on to round 2, where they will be randomly paired up once again to determine who moves on to the finals.
Feel free to defend your choices passionately.  Remember - this is serious business...

Now let's get our swoon on!

  5. - Edward Ferrars
    - Darcy (of course!!)
    - Brandon (I have major crush on him)
    - the last one is so hard. Arghh Wentworth.

    Wow that was hard.

  6. Edward Ferrars because it took me a few S&S watchings before I realized his name was Ferrars instead of Farris!

Darcy, but of course! Edmund had no chance.

George Knightley because I just love Jeremy Northam.(I love Alan Rickman too, but for different reasons...sorry, ol' chap!)

Wentworth because Persuasion is my second fave Austen novel!

  7. Henry Tilney (LOVE him).

Darcy destroys Edmund and dances on his corpse.

If Knightly didn't have that slightly creepy, "I knew you as a baby air" he could win, but Snape, I mean Brandon wins.

And Wentworth wipes the floor with Bingley, he is a military man afterall.

  8. I'm going with:
    -Edward

-DARCY (how unfortunate for Edmund to be in a head-to-head with Darcy. Darcy should really have a category to himself LOL)

    - Brandon

-Wentworth (I do love Bingley but not in a swoony way)

  9. AGH you really want me to pick between Edward and Henry? Fine. Edward. But that is a tough choice.

Darcy (I'm guessing Edmund is a Mansfield Park character).

    Colonel Brandon (Another toughie).

Frederick Wentworth (I like Bingley, but for me he lacks the swoon factor.)

  10. Ooh, torturing us are you?

    Henry
Fitzwilliam (Honestly, Edmund is rather pathetic, especially when compared to Darcy. However, Blake Ritsons portrayal was rather cute.)
This one is tougher, but I am going to have to go with Brandon
Wentworth, always and forever. (I am half agony, half hope...only Darcy can come close to beating that.)

Thanks for the fun and swoonworthy pics. :)

  11. Oh my word! This is difficult, but I think I'm going to have to go with Edward Ferrars for the first one. Sorry Henry, but my heart belongs to S&S first and foremost.

As for the Darcy/Edmund category. I'm voting for the underdog in this one, Edmund Bertram. Just 'cause I can (& I'm sure Darcy will win anyway... he is rather steamy).

And yet another difficult one! Must I choose? I think I'm going with... ACK! So hard! I'm going with George Knightley. I still love you, Brandon!!

Charles you're a cutie, but I love me some Frederick Wentworth!

  12. Henry Tilney
    Darcy
    Colonel Brandon
    Wentworth

  13. Oh god, Edward Ferrars was SO BORING. Henry Tilney all the way.

Again, no contest. Really, who would pick Edmund over Darcy?? Darcy FTW.

This is a little tougher, but I'm gonna have to go with Knightley.

Charles Bingley was a bit of a wimp, IMO. I'm definitely for the Navy man -- Wentworth.

    Heehee this is fun =D

  14. Henry Tilney for sure - LOVE JJ Feilds!

Darcy, of course, even if you do have the WRONG Mr. Darcy in that photo :-)

Colonel Brandon absolutely. Would you mess with Snape? I think not!

Aahh.... Frederick Rupert Penry Wentworth Jones.... *sigh*

  15. Edward Ferrars,
Edmund Bertram (Not with Blake acting him, though And, yes, I hate Mr Darcy. There we go, it's said)
George Knightley (by far, but the latest Emma adaptation's Knightley)
    Bingley!! (Wentworth's a tad dull)

  17. This is super easy. I've had these arguments so many times it's embarrassing. And now I've told you, so it's even more embarrassing. Here are my votes:

    Round 1: Edward Ferrars

Round 2: Darcy (duh - too bad Edmund got stuck with Darcy in this round, he deserves more of a fighting chance)

    Round 3: Colnel Brandon

Round 4: Frederick Wentworth (this isn't even a contest)

I can't wait to see who moves on!

    Henry for his kindness
Edmund because I am the only woman in the world who dislikes Darcy
