Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, which I participate in sporadically. Bonnie and I wanted to pull in the TTT topics during FTF, but because Fairy Tale Fortnight is turning 5 this year, we decided to give the topics a nostalgic FTF spin, and take a look back at some things, as well as a look forward. This week's topic is "Top Ten Characters You'd Like To Check In With," and while Bonnie took a look at general fairy tale characters that she wanted to be able to check in on after their tales ended, I want to see what's going on with 10* of my favorite characters from the adaptations I've read over the last 5 years of FTF.
And though my first instinct was to say I want to know how things turn out for Sorcha & Red... I then remembered that I do know how things turn out for them...and then I was sad. =/
*totally more than 10...
So in no particular order, I have to say, I'm really curious about...
Reveka & Frumos. Alright, I lied when I said "no particular order," because I am definitely most curious about the fates of Reveka and Frumos from Merrie Haskell's The Princess Curse, whcih I adore beyond measure, and will never stop holding out hope that a sequel (most advanced in years than the original middle-grade tale) will come into being, and thus into my greedy little hands. I neeeeeeed it! *grabby hands*
The Lass & her Bear. I've said for ages that this is one of my favorite retellings, and I just connected so much to the nameless Lass and her ice-bear-beast. I don't doubt their happy future, honestly -- I just want to check in and see them being happy, in their own little icy Norman Rockwell-painting version of Norway...
Ash & Kaisa & Sidhean. I had my issues with this story, but the fact remains that these characters were memorable, and I wanted more of them. I'd be really curious to peek into their lives.
The entire cast of The Lunar Chronicles, but somehow, Cress & Carswell Thorne most of all. (And I didn't see that coming. I mean, Cinder & Kai all the way, but I don't doubt they'll find their ways back to each other. But there's something so sweet about Cress and whatever is developing with her and Thorne, and I want more! Gimme Winter, dammit!
And again, the entire cast of a series, in this case, Castle Waiting -- every last inhabitant of the castle (right down to the little guy that says "Yaz'm"). I REALLY need there to be more of this series. I've read it all more than once, and I'm debating another go-round with it. My withdrawals are that bad.
Cécile & Tristan. Hidden Huntress can't come soon enough.
Keturah & her lord, Death. I'm not sure how rosy an ever-after in the afterlife can really be, but I picture these two about as content as you can get.
Suzume. I really need to know what's going on with Suzume. Her life was...beyond hard, and it's going to be a long road out of that pain. I want to just observe her for a bit, and wish her peace (and I want to see more of her story -- I want to see what becomes of her!)
I also really have been meaning to check in with the characters of Wildwood Dancing and The Goose Girl, which I really should have done. Guess it's time to finally pull Cybele's Secret and Enna Burning down off my shelves, eh?

ReplyDeleteI was actually really happy, reading Cybele's Secret, that we got a glimpse into the other sister's lives. It was like getting a letter from an old acquaintance. :)
