Character Connection: Cinna

Hey guys. I don't have a ton of time tonight, so I wasn't sure I was going to do a character connection this week.

But then, last night, my book club discussed The Hunger Games, and we had a dissenter.
Don't get me wrong, NL Jadin did like the book.  But she had so many things to pick apart; the self-confessed "heartless bitch" wasn't even affected when Rue died!  Needless to say, it was one of the loudest book club discussions we've had in awhile.
But we love each other, so it didn't get too bad; and we were all able to agree on one thing in the end: we all loved Cinna.

Katniss' smart, bold, ballsy Games designer from the Capitol had us devoted.  He's not afraid of making a statement -- even at great risk to himself -- and he's not afraid to do it with style.  Horrible pun intended.  A lot of people go back and forth on the whole Peeta/Gale thing; they debate Katniss and her naivete; they have their strong opinions on the world, the war, the Games, the good guys and bad guys -- but I have yet to meet someone who doesn't love Cinna.
And if that's not a character connection, I don't know what is.

  1. I haven't read this book, but have heard nothing but good things about it. The Hunger Games looks like it made for a lively book club discussion. Cinna sounds pretty cool as well.

  2. Cinna is such an awesome character. Like you said, the way that he was able to make such an important statement (and with style, of course) is just awesome. He's got such a unique personality. I love him too! :) Great post.

I can't believe we don't know what happened to him in Catching Fire! (I didn't just forget, right?) I want to know his story too. There has to be a reason for his rebellion against the Capitol.
