Cover Crush 3: Misty's Favorite Austen designs (again)

It's the last Cover Crush for this year's Jane-ness, and we're down to my favorite one-ofs (and sometimes two-or-three-ofs...). Some of these I love, some I'm not sure on, but keep finding myself drawn back to, and the last one...well...I hope it doesn't give me (or you) nightmares.
Check out Cover Crushes one and two here!

I ADORE this Rueben Toledo-designed version. Really wish there was a full set.
Simple, clean, and suited to the story. Not love, but like.
These, from Tribeca - each book has the same cover image, far as I can tell.
PENGUIN THREADS!!!!!!! That is all.
I don't know who makes this, but I need it...
Love this Spanish version.

Penguin. Again, Penguin knows how to get my $$
This one - from CreateSpace, so I don't know who the creator is - is simple, and a bit modern, and a bit dark. And I like it.

I can't decide if I like these ones from Puffin...
I think they're meant to appeal to younger teens, but they're a bit garish... At the same time, I like some of the details.

Same with these simple ones from Michael O'Mara
I like them, and I find them striking, if a bit bland.

However, I LOVE these "Fine Editions" from White's Books.
(Well, mostly just Emma, though I like both). Again, why no full set?

On the not-so-pleasant note, I came across these creepy editions from Toby Press:
Same cover for every story - looks like a psycho "Here's Johnny!" moment to me.... and it's utterly terrifying in thumbnail size when scrolling through Goodreads.

  1. I *love* the Penguin Threads covers! And totes agree: I NEED the peacock cover of P&P :oD

This has been a fun series ...

  2. I bought Rueben Toledo-designed version of the book for my best friend! It's beautiful!

  3. Omg, that last one is scary! I love the flowery Emma particularly. It's amazing how many different styles of cover there are out there.

  4. I hope there will eventually be Penguin Threads covers for all of them.

  5. My favorite is the Rueben Toledo one, it's so visually attractive, at least to me.

  6. I definitely like the Toledo one the best, though it has more of a Northanger Abbey feel than P&P, at least to me. That last one is just creepy! Sheesh.

  7. LOL @ the Toby Press ones! WTF!? Seriously have been laughing at that for 5 minutes. I have simple humour.

  8. Some of those covers are beyond awesome - and yeah, Penguin knows how to snag readers lol

I think my favs are the first one, the Rueben Toledo, & Penguin's Persuasion!
<3 Love great cover art :)

  9. In answer to your remark "I don't know who makes this, but I need it..." it is the gorgeous 1894 edition of P&P designed by Hugh Thomson and printed by George Allen, London. You have excellent taste Misty. This book is highly prized by collectors and can cost as much as $3,000 if in fine condition. I also need a copy, but the $$$ is beyond my pocketbook!

  10. I loved the first batch and a few of the others however i think that last one is going to give me nightmares.

  11. Laurel Ann - I think we need to take up a collection; CLEARLY that edition is meant to be in both our homes.

  12. Laurel Ann and Misty: I know it isn't quite as good as owning the actual 1894 copy of the book, but you may actually be able to afford a t-shirt version of that beautiful cover. My wonderful little brother found that for me, and I wear it all the time. (Or, you know, as often as hygiene and propriety allow....)

Tell me all your thoughts.
Let's be best friends.
