Teaser Tuesday: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

This meme hosted by Should Be Reading, so stop by and check out her blog!

To participate:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers

But of course, I do things a little differently.  Because I don't like giving you something random, but want instead something to actually tease you, I am going to give you a teaser from a book I have just read (with the full review to follow later in the week).  So let's begin, shall we?

"Your father," Annabeth murmured.  "This is really not good."
"It is determined," Chiron announced.
All around me, campers started kneeling, even the Ares cabin, though they didn't look happy about it.
"My father?" I asked, completely bewildered.
"Poseidon," said Chiron.  "Earthsaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses.  Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God,"

  1. I have heard nothing but great things about this

  2. I just posted my review for this one - I really enjoyed it :o) I'll be looking forward to seeing what you thought of it

  3. I've almost read this book quite a few times. I can't wait for your review! ;]

  4. Ironically I saw the film last night. Wasn't all that impressed. I'm sure the book is better, it usually is.
Gave the movie 3/5, not for small kids.

  5. I just finished this book and thought it was very good. I want to read the rest of the series now.

  6. I posted 3 sentences, it fit better.

"They'll have to fight for survival, to face the elements, and otherwise toughen up. Each species will physically isolated, and given them the full natural life so they can become the killing machines they were born be. Interaction will all be automated in the simulation, I won't even be in the same room as any of the animals, from the day I get them from the lab to the day I face them in the cage."

Forget What You Can't Remember, Teel McClanahan III

  7. Hmm, interesting, Jason.
And I never go by the two line rule. Clearly. ;p
