Friday Face Off: Slide

So... It's been a couple weeks since we've had a Face Off. I have excuses, but...I'm not gonna bother. I'd rather get right down to it: Slide, by Jill Hathaway, vs. self.
I've been meaning to feature this one on Friday Face Off forEVER, but the recent cover reveal for book 2, Imposter, reminded me that I need to get on it. I actually hadn't seen both versions on Goodreads, or anywhere else for that matter, until I was adding it to my Better World Books wishlist after it came out (so that I could keep an eye out for a cheap copy), and had the UK version pop up in the search results. It was sort of startling to me, partly because UK copies rarely show up on BWB, but mostly because they are so very different. I really actually like both, though, and think they give different - but equally compelling - impressions of the story. Seeing the two together kinda makes me want to read it more...
So, what do you think? If you haven't read it, would you reach for either of these on the shelves? And if you have, which do you think suits the story better? Let me know in the comments:
Which one did it better?

Last Time on FFO: We wrapped up the Jane Austen-y goodness with a Mansfield Park film face off, and it was pretty much a dead-tie. BUT everyone agreed that there just hasn't been a good adaptation of MP, which furthers my determination to have it be the read along selection next year, couple with a watch-along (um, you know what I mean, right?)

  1. I like both covers, but really don't care for the cover of Impostor. I'll read it no matter what, but that pinkish cover is just doesn't work for me.
Maybe there'll be another version for it later *fingers crossed*

  2. I haven't read Slide yet, but I do think the blue cover on the left is the better of the two! <3

  3. I would be more inclined to pick up the blue cover, but the cover on the right seems to fit the premise a bit more (not having read the book I can't say for certain). So I'll vote for the blue.

  4. I am going to have to say that I like the one on the left, the one on the right just kinda creeps me out, I don't like the eye!

  5. I like the bright colored one on the right. It pops and really grabs my attention.

  6. I don't think I'd pick up Slide based on either of these covers, but I would definitely notice the UK (eye) cover on a shelf whereas I'd probably glass over the US (blue) one.

    Pica @ Pica Reads

  7. I don't really like either of these covers, but I'd choose the blue one. It gives me a mystery/thriller vibe.

  8. I vote for the pinky one. It grabs my attention much more and I LOVE the eye.

  9. Personally, I love both of them. But for me, I would pick up the US version WAY faster than the UK. The UK has appeal but a different kind than a murder mystery. It seems to high-school-ish. The US definitely screams mystery to me! :)

    So: US!

  10. The US already won, but I would have voted for it. The face on the UK one kind of looks like a doll and I find this upsetting.

Tell me all your thoughts.
Let's be best friends.
