Trailer: Size 12 & Ready to Rock (sort of)

I've been asking everyone lately if they've read Meg Cabot's Size 12 series, and whether they think I could jump in at book 4 (because I have it! And it sounds so fun!). The consensus seems to be that I need to read them all - but quirky little gems like this trailer (of sorts) aren't helping...

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Size 12 and Ready to Rock by Meg Cabot
304 pages
Expected publication: July 10th 2012 by William Morrow Paperbacks
Summer break . . . and the livin' ain't easy

Just because the students at New York College have flown the coop doesn't mean assistant residence hall director Heather Wells can relax. Fischer Hall is busier than ever, filled with squealing thirteen- and fourteen-year-old girls attending the first ever Tania Trace Teen Rock Camp, hosted by pop sensation Tania Trace herself--who just happens to be newly married to Heather's ex-boyfriend, heartthrob Jordan Cartwright. But the real headache begins when the producer of a reality TV show starring Tania winds up dead . . . and it's clear that the star was the intended victim.

Grant Cartwright, head of Cartwright Records, wants to keep his daughter-in-law (and his highest-earning performer) alive. So he hires his oldest son, black sheep of the family and private investigator Cooper Cartwright--who just happens to be Heather's "new" fiancE. Heather should leave the detecting to Cooper. But with a dorm full of hysterical mini-divas-in-training, she can't help but get involved. And after Tania shares a really shocking secret with her, "this" reality suddenly becomes more dangerously real than anyone ever anticipated.

  1. I've just finished Book 1 in the series (which I had read when it first came out, so I couldn't really remember much). I love this song/trailer a lot - I'm kind of hypnotized and playing it over and over.

The only thing that bothers me is that "Jordan" in this video has dark hair and eyes, while in the books he's described as blond with blue eyes. His brother Cooper, Heather's landlord and love interest, has dark hair, but blue eyes, too. Now, I get that the video wouldn't look so striking if the guy had blond hair like the girl, but are we supposed to believe Jordan dyed his hair and wore coloured contacts for this video? or somebody just "forgot" what he looked like? Not that I like him, it's just that I'm bothered by these small inconsistencies.

I, too, think you should read the series from the start. It's an hilarious mix of chick lit and mystery.

  2. You could probably jump in at book four, but why miss out on the first three? It's a fabulous series.

  3. These books are so cute, I've read the first one and I really liked it. I think the audio book is pretty good too.

I just found out Meg Cabot is doing a book signing near my house this Friday, so of course I'm super excited for that!
