Year in Review: Favorite Covers of 2009

Everyone knows I am a sucker for a good cover.
2009 was a year of great, striking covers, and though I didn't read them all, they certainly made their impressions on me. I'm the type of book dork that, when I like the way a book looks, I am a) likely to buy it, even if it's not something I think I'll love; b) will just pick it up every now and then and hold it. No joke. I just stare at the pretty, pretty picture, and stroke the cover a bit. Yeah...

So here, for your viewing pleasure, are some of my favorite covers of 2009.
Some were published in 2009; some were published prior to '09, but caught my eye this past year. Some haven't even been published yet, but their covers were released in 2009.

Both versions of this cover are just stunning.

I can't decide which of these covers I love more, which is why I don't own either.

So what were your favorite covers this year?

  6. Nice choices!

I agree with Hush, Hush; great cover. I also like the cover for Shadowland (even though I have no intention of reading it because the reviews of the book itself have been so dismal).

  7. Great choices!
I especially love the cover for The Forest Of Hands And Teeth (the second one) Is that the UK cover? And I like the Graceling cover, both Shiver covers, Fallen cover, and the Hush, Hush cover.

  8. Gorgeous covers. I will say, even though I wasn't that impressed with the writing, Shiver is the most beautifully produced book. When you take the dust jacket off there is the imprint of a leaf on the cover, and the title page is almost as beautiful as the outside. Typesetting is perfect too. (I'm a bit of a nerd about typesetting.)

  10. The 2nd Forest of H&T cover is for the upcoming paperback, Mandy. I love both covers, but I think I like the second more, so I've been waiting for it to come out (I've already read the book). I also love the cover for the 2nd book, due out soon, called The Dead Tossed Waves. Didn't think to include it...

Rhiannon: Agreed. Though I didn't love the book, I feel like I want to own it in both covers. At first, I was leaning toward the blue cover, but I think I'm falling for the red and black one now.
