28 Days of Book Love: the Chat

I spent all of last month talking about the little bookish things I love -- and I'm spending today talking about them again. ^_^
Let me know your favorite bookish things in the comments!

And if you have ideas or topics you'd like to see on Book Chat, let me know!

  1. Great Month! There is so much to love about books. I'm a sucker for a pretty cover and interesting title.

  2. The deckled edge. Didn't know that's what it was called, but yes!!! And cream thick paper. Woodblock illustrations. Front and back covers integrated are a thing with me. Love matte covers, too.
I like your suggestion for reverse covers.
I love getting bookmarks and journals that match my book which goes along with the suggestion to sell the special promo stuff with the book.
Because I'm nearly blind, I've become a lover of clear fonts, but also wider spaces between lines like what you get with hardback editions and trade paperbacks.
I enjoy when a cover, particularly if there is a mystery, and hints at part of the story or is symbolic and makes perfect sense once the story is over.

Great book love challenge, Misty! I enjoyed your vid and kept nodding with all that you were pulling out.

  3. Gilded edges YAS GURL. Also, deckled edges. I adore deckled edges. I cannot stop running my fingers along them. Same with embossed covers (and matte covers- The Serpent King has both matte and sheen elements, embossed, and I could not stop molesting the cover).

The only one I'd add is footnotes. I love a fiction with footnotes. Something about it is so cheeky.
