Coming Attraction: Paper Valentine

Ya'll, no joke, I have a serious fangirly crush on Brenna Yovanoff's writing. Like, I'm thinking about asking her writing to move in with me. We can start as friends, as roomies, and then maybe one day, something about the font will change, or just the right word will be used, and one thing will lead to another and before you know it, we'll have little half-text, half-human babies.
Her books just - they're what I want. And that's a strong statement to make for someone who only has 2 books to date (and some short stories and a bunch of well-written, awesome blog posts). But for real. Her books just satisfy* me, always.
*Does italicizing 'satisfy' make it seem dirty, given the context of everything else I said? Hmm. OH WELL. ;)

Um. But my point is, I'm suuuuuper looking forward to Paper Valentine, her next book which doesn't come out until next year. Because they're trying to kill me.  But the cover has been released, so that makes it all a little more real (yay!), and also means I can finally share my rabid need for it with you (so you can be rabid too. Rabies!)
I think it's kind of neat that this cover is sort of a combo of her first 2 book's covers - even though they're not a series. It has the moody stormy-and-gloom of The Replacement, and the intricate red/silver of The Space Between.

  1. Just as I was reading this, I had a Danny Mark's book haul video playing in the background, and he started talking about a Brenna Yovanoff book that he had just purchased, kinda creepy lol!

  2. Knowing nothing about this except the title, cover art, and my personal happiness with Yovanoff's The Replacement, I am very excited about this! The cover is nice, but it's the title that really interests me. And I admit that the bg being identical to the Replacement's irks me a bit. Excited to see how it turns out though!

  3. After your relentless enthusiasm, and everybody else's, over these books I've been dying to read them for a while. When i won book vouchers for my local book store i thought, what the perfect opportunity. Until i find the book, The Replacement, complete with a supposedly dreamy, blonde, swooshy haired male slapped on the cover. Im sorry, but WTF!!! That cover was perfect why'd they change it!! now i need to get it online. i refused to buy it, it was that bad. :(

  4. Kayleigh, I REALLY don't like that cover, so I don't blame you in the least for not buying it. It doesn't evoke the creepiness and unsettling atmosphere of the book at all, and it just makes Mackie look silly.
Also, it reminds me quite a bit of another YA cover, whereas the baby carriage one is its own thing.

In fact, I think I'm going to have a Friday Face Off with that cover and the one it reminds me of... and maybe the 2 covers for The Replacement.

  5. Agh! I adore this cover! Must have this book (adding to list).

  6. Dude, I so had not noticed that the new one was the other covers put together. Your eye for cover similarities freaking astounds me. :)

  7. Haha! I can't help myself, I'm cover obsessed. ;D

Tell me all your thoughts.
Let's be best friends.
