When I was a kid, there was a japanese fairy tale I had that I loved; it was about a boy who could paint things so beautiful and perfect that they came to life. So, to keep that from happening, he always left one little piece unfinished or intentionally imperfect. (This is pretty common in folklore, actually, and many traditional artists still do this.) The synopsis for Amanda Sun's Ink seems to play off of this motif, which, yay! Going on the to-read for sure.
Also, it's just gorgeous. I would totally hang this on my walls.
