TBR Tuesday: Cinder

Most of us have books we've bought with all intentions of reading (or maybe just because it was cheap!), only to have them fade away on a shelf or disappear into a stack of books, never to be seen or thought of again.
TBR Tuesday is a way to talk about the books we own but haven't read, see what other people think about them, and help us decide whether to bump it up our list or knock it off completely.
[If you're more a book borrower than a book buyer, you're still welcome to participate with the books that you've been meaning to read and haven't!]

On my TBR

by Marissa Meyer
Sci-fi, Fairy Tale, 400 pages
Expected publication: January 3rd 2012 by Feiwel & Friends

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

Ever since I got this in the mail - hell, ever since I first heard about it, I knew I wanted to include this in next year's Fairy Tale Fortnight.  But the thing is...FTF isn't until April, and that's a long time to wait.  And with the book coming out in January, I have this debate on my hands - do I save it or do I read it soon and post briefly about it on the release, but save the full review for April?  I've been leaning toward the latter option 'cause y'all, I want to read this soon.
What do you guys think?  Should I be a good girl and save it, or read it ASAP?  Anyone looking forward to this cyborg-Cinderlla?

What's calling your name from the TBR stacks this week?

  1. There's no way I could wait. I want to read this book so bad.

  2. I couldn't wait - already read it! My expectations were a tad too high, but I did like the book a lot!

Note of warning, in case it helps you decide: THE ENDING SUCKS. Next book pleeeease.

  3. Well, I think you know what *I* think you should do: Read. Now! :)

  4. I couldn't be able to wait... The day I was approved on NetGalley for it, I was busy reading. It was fantastic! But Allison up there is right, it ends on a HUGE cliffhanger!

  5. Based on three of four considerations (the 4th doesn't apply), two of which depend on qualifying considerations, This is still too risky for me.
You've chosen to be in a position in which you take these risks so that people like me don't have to deal with it.
Since this caught your attention and you're itching to read it, I'd say you have to look no further for a darn good excuse than to fulfill your obligation to your readers by reading it now and giving us a rating and a couple comments (for now) so we can adjust our reading schedules in time for the release.

    How's that for an excuse.

  6. @ PO: You've convinced me, I will be reading it soon.

@Allison & Jen: Ugh. You've given me pause. Cliff-hanger endings for me tend to irritate me more than anything, with a few notable exceptions (and those exceptions make up some of my favorite series, so I guess we'll see...)

@Inoli: You've got this all plotted out, haven't you? ;D

  7. That one looks good! Let's see, I unearthed an ARC of an Edge Chronicle book I got two years ago at BEA that looks tempting.

Tell me all your thoughts.
Let's be best friends.
