Wonder what scandal would have shocked the residents of Sanditon if that had been finished.

Fun discourse, ladies!Sophia Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909417504496472472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-4793698690536986792015-08-27T23:26:15.152-04:002015-08-27T23:26:15.152-04:00You know, I had never considered how genuinely sca...You know, I had never considered how genuinely scandalous her books were until this moment! We get to see more of a reaction from him than we normally do (less reserved), as he is clearly upset at both the situation and her distress. (I particularly like the BBC portrayal of this scene; Colin Firth's Darcy is trying to maintain that emotional control he always has, but it's slipping.) And of course the whole time there's a mismatch going on mentally for them – she's convinced there's no way he'll ever want to associate with her after this, and he's busy planning what his next move will be to deal with the situation.

There's always the scandal from S&S, too, with Willoughby choosing Miss Grey and her 50 000 pounds and jilting Marianne – and then later coming back to talk to Elinor about how tortured he's been by that decision. Just deserts, that one. danyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07947267082874389487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-83841969561024749232015-08-27T20:02:28.549-04:002015-08-27T20:02:28.549-04:00Oooh, Gen. Wickham and Lydia running off to Gretna Green has nothing on Maria's scandalous behavior, and Henry's. Oh, and Mr. Tilney turning out poor Catherine in the middle of the night! Pretty shocking, especially given the reason was basically "I'm disappointed she isn't an heiress". There's....actually a lot of people behaving badly bin Austen.
