I've been following your blog for months (years?) now, and I finally worked up the courage to join in a discussion. =]Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-77581206553917573872012-04-07T09:45:56.276-04:002012-04-07T09:45:56.276-04:00You know, until this book chat, I never realized h...You know, until this book chat, I never realized how much my decisions to pick up books rely on what other bloggers are saying about them. I typically stay away from the ones attracting negative feedback and go for the positive stuff. And I didn't realize that how I choose my book choosing has changed significantly since before becoming a book blogger. At first, it was all based on friend recommendations and things my mom picked out that looked interesting. Now, it's all about what the latest buzz is saying.

This chat is definitely delicious food for thought. It got me thinking and I think I'm going to make a few changes. Just because I haven't heard of a book before seeing it doesn't mean I should ignore it because I haven't read any opinions on it. :D

— AsherMarathonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12998824096375362353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-23241016446957902692012-04-06T16:33:30.558-04:002012-04-06T16:33:30.558-04:00Hi Misty, this blog has made me think about how I ...Hi Misty, this blog has made me think about how I choose books. I would have said I like to read well written books. I'll pick up naval books, authors I like, crime/mystery novels and 1950s spy novels mainly, but if something has an interesting cover or title I'll check out the back. I generally avoid the obvious romance novels - I like a story - but occasionally I forget and have been known to read M&B books. The latest free ones are more unrealistic than I remember.
Currently, most of my reading comes from free ebooks...I recently got a Kindle ... and I'm reading a wider range of genres - quite a few vampire/werewolf YA and chicklit books which I wouldn't normally pick up.
Outside of that, most of my books come from charity (thrift) shops...I have fun collecting a series over time and reading them out of order!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-54174922423365308862012-04-06T14:57:59.981-04:002012-04-06T14:57:59.981-04:00Hello,

I think if I hear about a book too much, I make a mental note and try it later when the hype has worn down.

I don't like blogging controlling what I read or when I read it, so I don't accept books for review anymore. I value that freedom you alluded to allot.Tales of Whimsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10938494589922620170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-14113583390148156242012-04-06T00:42:11.680-04:002012-04-06T00:42:11.680-04:00Great video post Misty! Then when Amazon came around, I could browse on another level. Now that I'm blogging I feel like my world has opened up so much. I now not only browse at libraries, bookstores and on Amazon, I love getting recommendations from other bloggers.Midnyte Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10411332857885069319noreply@blogger.com
