She never takes cheap shots at people, but to those who deserve it, she mocks with clarity."

That's why I'm re-reading Pride and Prejudice, I suppose. = )Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-61408203302744477102013-08-27T20:21:53.184-04:002013-08-27T20:21:53.184-04:00I love when steamy scenes are added into variation...I love when steamy scenes are added into variations, just because Austen didn't write about it doesn't mean it wasn't going on! Although I do generally prefer if the pairings are kept as Austen intended...

I've not come across your books before, I will definitely be checking them out!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04616210637816445631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-85376922803390621012013-08-27T18:50:22.378-04:002013-08-27T18:50:22.378-04:00Sophia,
I know what you mean, regarding the steamy...Sophia,
I know what you mean, regarding the steamy scenes in Austen's works. I have 2 sisters, both admirer's of Austen. One sister loves the added scenes and another chastises us for even considering such a scene connected with Jane's work. Her conviction is that as a woman that never married Jane would never approve such scenes connected with her work. I love hearing everyone's opinions.

I completely agree with your own realization that love is of the mind, and not just emotions. Though I must say it is a pleasure when it is of both. I also agree, 100% about your statement regarding timing. I have witnessed real life examples of Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth and the growth that both experienced during their separation made their relationship that much stronger.

Thank you for commenting and weighing in on my little part in the Austen in August event.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790614306320534072.post-57130227713913960272013-08-27T14:54:04.947-04:002013-08-27T14:54:04.947-04:00It took me a while to adjust to steamy sex scenes ...It took me a while to adjust to steamy sex scenes in Austen stories. There's a part of me that still can't and I finally just went with it by acknowledging that these are so and so's Darcy and Lizzy or Wentworth and Anne and not Austen's original characters.

Reading Jane Austen has helped me realize some of the things you already pointed out about these heroines and I really enjoyed your point about her view that love is of the mind and not just the emotions Something I did think about after reading Persuasion was that sometimes its not so much that people get a 2nd chance at love so much as the first go around might have been too soon and people had some growing to do before it would work.

Loved learning how another Janeite came to love her. Thanks!Sophia Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909417504496472472noreply@blogger.com
