  1. Funny you bring this up... I was just thinking along these lines as I stared at virtual and actual shelves to decide what I wanted to read for a few books challenges (including a Series challenge). I realized rather quickly that I have several- sev er al!!!... books from series that I loved, had to have, was feverish about having, and there they set.
However, there is hope for us. I finished the Lunar Chronicles last fall and discovered that the new graphic novels keep advancing the story. I also caught up on Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling series and this year I took the plunge to start JD Robb's In Death series which had actual dust on them from my shelves. I am gulping and shaking, but still plan to start and finish two or three series I have on my shelf.
This is the year!!! I tell myself.

My reasons for struggling to finish series are really similar to your own. I don't want it to end or fear what I must get through before the end.

    See you're not alone. LOL

  2. OMG me toooooooo! That's why this year I'm finishing the series I've read and loved. Avoidance isn't a bad thing, but some series enders are so good! And ya know...the world still exists after the primary plotline is over. Those daydreams can still happen. Instead of re-reading the series, I jump on Recaptains and Book Recaps to refresh my mind.

I finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone and....honestly, I liked the first two books better than the third.
Chaos Walking, on the other hands, ends as brilliantly as it started. Patrick Ness always always always makes me cry BUT in the best possible way. I felt like I *needed* the catharsis of an ending, after all the horrible things that happen to those characters.
Good luck with those! Maybe read them and just...make a happy space before, during, and after reading it. Like a wee book hug.
