Unread & Over-Represented Authors | The Friday Five
Hey there! This little impromptu chat is part of a regular feature I do on my blog called "The Friday Five," where I dig into the minutae of various bookish (and non-bookish) things! I'd love to hear your thoughts on your own unread but over-repped authors (even if you don't own them! It can be that you have loooots of books marked to-read on Goodreads by a certain author, but have yet to touch one!). And if you have any suggestions for The Friday Five or Book Chat topics, please let me know in the comments!

I giggled when I saw your topic. And yes, my giggle had a mild hysterical note to it b/c I, too, have hundreds of unread books between actual and virtual shelves. And the acquisition of these is blend of gifting, unsolicited reviews, review requests, personal purchases, and trades. Oh, and freebies and giveaways.
ReplyDeleteSo I was forced to consider this unread and over-repped group at the beginning of the year when my blog partner posted her 'Series' Reading challenge. Because, series. I have unread series galore. So I chose Eileen Wilks' World of the Lupi for the challenge, but seriously, it could have been Cassandra Clare, Marjorie Liu, Nalini Singh, Lorhaine Eckhart or fifty others b/c I will collect a series that sounds promising and never having started it or only read the first one.
I was wondering if you could do a Friday Five on epistolic style book recommends. I recently read Illuminae and loved the epistolic writing style for something a bit different. No biggie if you haven't read any, but thought I'd ask just in case.

ReplyDeleteI also have hundreds of books on my shelves that I have not read. But I have hundreds that I have read and dozens that I have read multiple times. I haven't ever considered which authors might be leading in the unread piles but your clever concept has certainly got me thinking about it.
