Catching Up & Finally Winter: The Vlog, January 2016 edition

Hiya! Here's a quick(ish) look at what I've been up to, and some of the pretty sights and sounds (ooh, ahh) of the last little while, all wrapped up in a tidy little VLOG.
If you're champing at the bit for more vloggish goodness, you can find the entire playlist here, including some from January of last year, in which we were definitely not short on winter-time goodness... (Hello, 24 straight hours of snowfall...)

Ahh, it's good to be back (ish). ^_^

MUSIC: "Not for Nothing" by Otis McDonald and "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" by Tchaikovsky

  1. It looks like you've been having a great couple of months. I love all the Halloween makeup. It's a really big holiday in my family too. So theatrical and full of stories and possibility :-)

    1. Yes! Halloween is such a great story-teller, embrace-other-sides-of-yourself time of year. =)

  2. And now your hair is BLUE! LOL....I have serious hair envy. How do you fade and re-dye so quickly, without it all falling out?! (you totally inspired me to go copper ombre, btw)

It looks like you had a great Halloween, and a good Christmas, and I'm glad you're in a happy space. Internet cleanse sounds wonderful. If I didn't have a small business, I'd be all over that. I like the concept of storyteller vlogs, and making them occasional as opposed to regimented. The only thing this new tack has me concerned over is....are FTF and AiA going to happen?

    1. Haha! I hand-mix my dyes, so it changes as I go... I don't rebleach my hair (generally), just re-growth, and I deep condition like crazy, and use coconut oil when I DO bleach, so honestly, my hair's been feeling healthier than ever, most of the time. I just let it fade out, and right before I'm getting ready to redye, I use a shampoo with sulfates (which I don't normally use), so that it strips out any last bit of color that wants to come out. And then I just dye over what's left, and whatever happens, happens. It allows there to be a lot of high & low lights and different tones. (If I'm doing a total color change, though, I might bleach wash, which is gentler.) Honestly, until I switched to Pravana (the violet tone in my hair), the dyes have all washed out pretty easily over time. Pravana, however, seems to stay put, so I think we have a winner!

As for FTF and AIA... AIA will hopefully go ahead as planned (or maybe even move back to June), but FTF will be postponed to the end of the year, at the very least (if not outright skipped this year -- I've been kind of wanting to take a break from it, even before the internet-cleanse). It will definitely not be happening this Spring, as it normally does. (Spoiler.) I'll probably be announcing that sometime soon.
