Character Reveal & Giveaway: the Hero's Guide series by Christopher Healy!

As I said earlier today, the final book in the Hero's Guide series, The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw, has just been released, and to celebrate that fact, some of the characters from this last book are traveling the high seas internets and dropping in on us unsuspecting landlubbers blogging folk. Click through to meet one such scallywag, one "Val Jeanval" (best. name. ever.), and find out just what's listed on his rap sheet — and then enter to win a complete set of the Hero's Guide books!

The series may be ending, but I'm not done with this League of Princes just yet... Make sure you stop back next week when I review the book and share a fun quickfire interview with the series' author, Christopher Healy (hinty hint-hint, there may just be another chance to win the final book then... Just sayin;. ;P) And don't forget to check out my reading of the beginning of The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw by Christopher Healy Get It | Add It
Middle Grade Adventure/Retelling, 320 pages Published April 29th 2014 by Walden Pond Press
The League of Princes returns in the hilariously epic conclusion to the hit series that began with Christopher Healy's The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom, which the Los Angeles Times called "one of the more clever, hilariously successful incarnations of the current literary rage to rip apart and rewrite fairy tales." Prince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You think you know those guys pretty well by now, don't you? Well, think again. Posters plastered across the thirteen kingdoms are saying that Briar Rose has been murdered—and the four Princes Charming are the prime suspects. Now they're on the run in a desperate attempt to clear their names. Along the way, however, they discover that Briar's murder is just one part of a nefarious plot to take control of all thirteen kingdoms—a plot that will lead to the doorstep of an eerily familiar fortress for a final showdown with an eerily familiar enemy.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Christopher Healy is the author of the Hero's Guide trilogy: The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom, The Hero's Guide to Storming the Castle, and coming in spring 2014, The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw. It is published on May 1st, 2012, by Walden Pond Press, an imprint of HarperCollins. A film version is currently in development at Fox Animation/Blue Sky Studios. Chris lives in New Jersey with his wife, two children, and a dog named Duncan. Visit him at ChristopherHealy.com. And learn more about the Hero's Guide universe at OfficialHerosGuide.com.

  4. I LOVE this series and was lucky enough to get to read a digital galley. The galley didn't have all of the illustrations so this is the first time I've seen Val Jeanval....he's nothing like I had him pictured. I've hinted to the publisher (Walden Pond Press) on FB that they should release trading cards for the characters. I'd love to see the books made into movies.

  9. I legit read this whole post with "Look DOWN! Look DOWN!" playing in my head. If this Les Mis LOL is the least of the hilarity in this book, then it's a book I'm really going to have to read. XD

  11. So they ARE making a movie from this series!!!! (It's in the author's bio) I read all three of these books back to back and laughed harder than I have since I was a kid. I kept telling my husband that the people who buy movie rights are all idiots for not pouncing on these books. I'm glad to know we have some intelligent people working at Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios. :)

  13. All four of my children have become entranced with the book series and did a happy dance yesterday when the third book arrived! We've read through chapter eight already so we've not yet met Val Jeanval. Can't wait to read more!

  15. Val Jeanval! Such a great name. It gives the henchman Redshirt from book 2 a run for his money on character name.

  16. Assault with a stale baguette- one of the best visuals I've gotten in a long, long time. Plus, the Les Miserables reference. Plus, the fact that I've been waiting to read book 1 for MONTHS, because the library has over 100 holds on the single copy of Hero's Guide that they have. :(
