EPIC FAIL by Claire LaZebnik | Video Review

In the weeks leading up to Austen in August, my youtube followers voted on which AIA books they'd like to have a video review of - Claire LaZebnik's Epic Fail was a clear winner.
So here are my thoughts on this fun, contemporary YA take on Pride and Prejudice. Thanks for watching, and let me know your thoughts on Epic Fail, or your favorite YA retellings, in the comments!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik
Get It | Add It
Pride & Prejudice retelling/Contemporary, 295 pages
Published August 2nd 2011 by HarperTeen
At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:

- As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school--not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.
- As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn't exactly on everyone's must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.

When Elise's beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince's best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long.

  1. I need to read this one! I just finished The Trouble With Flirting and gave it 4 unicorns! I loved it! Mansfield Park is one of my favorites and though she played with the tale she definitely stayed true to the characters and all that other good stuff! I'm a fan of her work and after hearing you great review, I think she's a winner!

    1. Mansfield Park is one of your favorites? Ooh, then you MUST stop by on some of the MP-specific posts, because I know a lot of people find it less than favorable, so it needs all the love it can get! =)

  3. I definitely plan to read this one. I love Austen retellings and I haven't read a YA directed one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
