Book Chat: Buzzwords and Deal Breakers

Hey there.

Here's the Book Chat for the month. I thought after last month's passionate and draining Negative Review chat, we could do something a little lighter. Can't wait to find out what your buzz words and deal breakers are!
Feel free to link up your video as a response, or leave a link in the comments!

And if you want to check out the EXCELLENT responses to last months Negative Review chat, you can get them in all their glory here!

[DON'T TOUCH MY STRINGS!
Totes my new catch phrase... ;P]

  1. What a fun unique question! *high five*

Sooooo with you on dystopia, whimsical, and quirky.

My buzz words are sassy, magical, and mystery.

Vampires are a total turn off.

    I won't even brake/pause for zombies.

  2. One of my biggest book turn offs is when we found out something before the reader does and it's staring them in the face.

I also can't stand mistaken idenity stories, they just rub me the same way.

I guess my buzz words would be zombies, vampires, magic, witches, cupcakes, boarding school, orphans, murder, mystery, suspense, scary, strange, bizzare.

  3. Ooh those catchy words that catch my eyes can be something as simple as a strange title, or the cover has a sword, there is fighting involved, the protagonist gets trained for something/ kidnapped, the main has special powers.

My main big put offs and not wanting to glance at it any further:

Paranormal, they seem to all be the same and always throws in a guy and blah blah romance becomes the main subject

Reaalllly looooong uninteresting chapters, cliffhangers and each chapter (I agree), and involving love triangles because they are too predictable

  4. I love this question . It's so fun. I've been thinking about it for a while though. It's hard to pinpoint a lot of them. I finally made a post up though and hopefully it does my book-picking justice :D

  5. Awesome Book Chat! Sorry I'm only finally getting around to doing a book chat. Really felt like answering this one. Maybe I'll eventually get around to answering some older ones. I'm behind. Lol

  7. I am very late but I loved this topic and your vlog... so.. Greek myths and fairytale retellings are a big yes, also Shakesphere retellings. Also, also, witty + big laughs for books and movies, esp. when describing the main character.
I am totally turned off by unnecessary sequels, anything that sounds like corny romance, and villians that are bad for no reason (ie no back story).
