First Line:  Where should we go next?" Margie sets the large atlas on the table, smoothing her hand over the worn cover.
Black Disaster Fairy's Take:

I have yet to pick up Carrie Ryan's The Forest of Hands & Teeth but I should.  It is right there on my shelf.  Oh, I can almost pet it. :D

Scenic Route follows suite and holds a plot worthy of Zombie Apocalypse Fans.

Two sisters, Margie & Sally are hiding out in the woods in a cabin.  Sounds creepy already!  They are trying to stay away from Zombies, and of course from any human predators that may want to do them harm or steal their prime location.

While taking refugee away from the chaos of the world Sally dreams and designs the ultimate road trip.  It is a great way to distract themselves from the harsh life of growing up too fast.

A Love interest... a small one.  Zombies... in the foreshadow.  Gore... Of Course!!!!

The ending was sort of shocking in a good way!  Who does not enjoy the unexpected?

"There is a guy tied to the porch swing," Sally says when Margie comes down from the loft in the morning.

PhotobucketThis is the first time I have read anything by Carrie Ryan, but I do plan on entering her Zombie Apocalypse sometime soon.

Overall, Scenic Route held a creep factor even without bringing in a Zombie.

*Received from BEA 2011.  This in no way has hindered my weird but honest review.*
