TBR Tuesday: The Sorcerer of Sainte Felice

Most of us have books we've bought with all intentions of reading (or maybe just because it was cheap!), only to have them fade away on a shelf or disappear into a stack of books, never to be seen or thought of again.
TBR Tuesday is a way to talk about the books we own but haven't read, see what other people think about them, and help us decide whether to bump it up our list or knock it off completely.

Everyone is welcome to participate; feel free to link your TBR post to the linky below. :)

On my TBR

The Sorcerer of Sainte Felice
Ann Finnin

"I was only an apprentice. I swear it. By all the angels in Heaven."

Condemned to death by the Holy Office for sorcery, fifteen-year-old Michael de Lorraine is rescued from the flames by Abbot Francis and granted refuge at Sainte Felice, a Benedictine monastery in fifteenth-century France. Michael learns that this strange and wonderful place, famous for its healing wine, harbors renegade monk-sorcerers, enchanted gargoyles, and a closely guarded secret that could spell violent death for the Abbot.

As the church intensifies its cruel pursuit of Michael, Abbot Francis and the wizard monks find themselves in grave danger. Michael will do anything to protect his mentor, but are his own magical powers great enough to save the monastery from the merciless, bloodthirsty Inquisition?

I picked this on up at ALA because I thought everything about it (plot, title, cover) seemed pretty awesome, but I knew it would probably be a while until I was able to get to it.  It currently resides at the bottom of a very large stack of books that are all pleading with me to read them.  I still think everything about it seems pretty interesting, and I would kind of like to find out if it's any good so I could help publicize it (it only has 15 ratings on Goodreads!) - but still, I don't know when I'll possibly be able to get to it.
Any of you read this one?  What's waiting at the bottom of your stacks, making you feel guilty?

  3. I've read the Sorcerer of Sainte Felice and found it to be a very enjoyable story! From the beginning to the end - it's never boring!! Am not going to post any plot spoilers ... but definately pull this book up from the bottom of any 'to be read' stack and put it at the top!! You're missing out otherwise!
