Behind Every Great Book, There is Great Candy ~ From Allison @ The Allure of Books

And now, for a tasty treat from Alilson of The Allure of Books!

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
Sure, one of the perks of Halloween is a good excuse to curl up with a nice scary book or movie. Bet...let's be honest here. It's really all about the CANDY. The perfect combination of book to candy is a rare thing: but I've got you covered.

You wanna re-read Twilight? Go for it. (Hey, plenty of people find the series horrifying.) Try eating a nice caramel-filled Milky Way (with this and all other candy bars, I recommend substituting one full-sized bar for approximately 25 of the smaller ones. That sounds like a pretty close conversion, right?). After all, the candy bar is weak and spineless: no real substance. Sounds like a certain main character I know (hint: rhymes with Stella.)
Maybe you would prefer to go old school and pick up one of the classics. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dracula or Frankenstein? All fantastic Halloween reads. If you're gonna pick up a classic, you have to eat a classic.  This calls for some Snickers ooey gooey crunchy goodness. Then, to break things up, if you find the book lagging in certain sections...you'll need to shock your system! Definitely a job for Sweet Tarts.

Another great option is the newest YA horror novel on the block: The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff. You definitely have to go Three Musketeers with this one. Why? Well, first of all: you shouldn't need a reason. Three Musketeers is the ultimate candy bar. Second...it is gray just like the book, so if you read in public you can keep up a constant stream of candy eating since the wrapper blends in with the book. Ninja candy for the win.
So, there are my candy recommendations: what combinations would you choose?

  1. Obviously, Gobstoppers with Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I'm just trying to think of what one would read while eating Nerds, but nothing's come to me yet.
