Contest CANCELLED!

Okay folks, here's the thing: I was sort of disappointed by the attitudes displayed for my birthday bash BWB 5 book giveaway.  I was shocked by the snobbery and the scorn for used books.  So many people disparaged what I think is a great company with a great business motto, supporting a great cause.  So because of that, the 5 book bargain bin crawl is CANCELLED.

Maybe you'll all be a little more appreciative next time.

If there is a next time.

And if you believe that, you might want to check the time stamp on this post, because there is still one minute before April Fool's Day ends, and I just made the most of it. :P
OF COURSE the contest isn't cancelled.  I would never do that to you!  Actually, it's quite the opposite; there's been such a resurgence of interest lately that I decided to extend the contest until the 15th.  So many people have been stopping by and telling me they've never heard of BWB and want to check it out now, and I fully want to encourage that.
Also, I was thinking about it, and though I am a big fan of the Bargain Bin and the awesome find, I know not everyone has the patience for that.  So instead of doing a 5 for $15 Bargain Bin crawl, and I am going to send the winner a $20 giftcard.  This way, you can still do the 5 for $15 thing if you want, or get a new book and a used, or some great used books that aren't in the bargain bin -- the choice is yours!
So you have two more weeks to enter if you haven't, or to tell people about it if you'd like (no obligation, and it won't get you anything but karma points). And I figured while we're at it, we might as well extend the Alias Alice (Alice in Whatsitland) giveaway as well.  I'm having fun with that one, so go enter it!

Here's what I got from BWB this month for my birthday treat:

All used.  All lovely.
For whatever reason, The Adoration of Jenna Fox ended up upside down...oops. :)
Go.  Enter.

Happy April Fool's!!!

  2. Almost got me! hahaha
I LOVE Once Upon a Marigold and The Two Princesses of Bamarre. Two of my fave middle grades!
I read Two Princesses forever ago and just recently found it in a box of books when I cleaned out the garage. Can't wait to read it again!
And I read marigold quite a while ago as well, but checked it out at the library a few weeks ago along with the sequel, Twice Upon a Marigold. They're a lot of fun!

    Enjoy!

  4. Woah at the load you got from BWB! I have been looking through the bargain bin at BWB and added 5 to the cart to later find out it's still ~$4 to ship each book :( What a shame but box sets look like a great buy!

  12. Oh, girl, you really sucked me in with that April Fool's joke! I was feeling appalled that people would be so rude. It's nice to know that it didn't really happen.

  13. LOL! Great post! I checked out better world books. sounds great. Within about 3 minutes I had chosen 10 books! I figured $30 for 10 books was great! than I proceeded to the checkout. With shipping, the total was over $80!!! Not such a good deal! Unless I can find a similar site where the shipping is not so outrageous I guess I will stick to buying my books from local thrift stores that support charities!
