Friday Face Off (1)

Occasionally, you'll come across two books with rather similar covers. Whether it's completely coincidental, a sign of trends, or a blatant case of biteritus, the question remains:
who did it better?

vs.

Bleeding Violet published January 5, 2010
The Dark Divine published December 22, 2009

Have you seen any cover-twins? Comment with the titles!

  1. I haven't read TDD yet, but I have a copy at home.
I read Bleeding Violet though, and I didn't like it at all (check my blog for review if you wonder why).
    So I'll vote for TDD.

  2. I vote for the DD cover. The BV cover seems to sexual for my taste.

    Love the boxing graphic!
    Love this feature :)

  3. I have both books and my vote goes to The Dark Divine since it's glossy and Bleeding Violet is too dark.

  5. Bleeding Violet is the BEST COVER EVAR!!!!!! Also I haven't read TDD yet but I highly doubt it can top the EPIC that was BV.

  6. Hm, while Bleeding Violet's cover is gorgeous, I still have to vote for TDD because I like the simplicity. Great picks! :D

  7. I vote for Bleeding Violet. It's so gorgeous. The Dark Divine has a lovely cover too and I like the nail polish, but BV is more dark and intriguing and just all around great looking :) (I haven't read either book yet)

  8. I like the contrast of The Dark Divine. Bleeding Violet is all just too dark and blends together a little for me.

  9. I really like both covers! But I think I would pick TDD, just because it seems that little more intriguing.

  10. As for cover twins, there were those that used the same model photo; Evermore and North of Beautiful. There was another one too, but I've forgotten what it was called.

Ohh, The Devouring by Simon Holt is similarish to BV and TDD :)

  11. I'll have to go with Bleeding Violet - it just seems richer to me, more haunting and intriguing.

I like them both and I might pick The Dark Divine but the legs freak me out a bit - weirdly shaped, thin and anorexic looking.

    Fun post!

  12. I was thinking the same thing, Alyssa! On first glance, TDD is my hands down fave, but when I really looked, the legs freak me out. Way too skinny.

  17. I had to do a double take of the boxers...I thought it was a picture of m G grandfather. Very cool But alas its not. hehe

As for the covers I cant decide. DD the girls is so contrast to the rest and well BV is clustered

  20. I vote for Bleeding Violet because I agree the the models legs on The Dark Divine look freakishly thin.
