What Are you Reading? Mondays (5)

Well, it's a Manic Monday once again, so it's time for "What Are You Reading?", a meme hosted by J. Kaye. Check it out and tell us what you are reading.

Alright, I am inexcusably behind in my What Are You Reading Mondays. Sorry, folks. So I'm going to catch you up real quick, and then get into what I have planned for the week.

Since last we talked, I have read just about everything I had planned, and threw in some utter randomness as well. In no particular order:
Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs, review here
Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs, review here
Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs, review here
Deerskin by Robin McKinely
Ash by Malinda Lo
Shirley by Kaoru Mori
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
Savvy by Ingrid Law, review here
Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith, review here

For this week, I have planned to read:
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Zombie Haiku
and maybe a couple of tales from Grimm's Grimmest for Helluva Halloween.

  2. That was actually two weeks worht. I hadn't posted a WAYRM in 2 weeks (oops).

And the Grimm's Grimmest is a little compilation of their most disturbing tales. I did a research paper on fairy tales, and I don't even think the Grimm's are the most disturbing, though they probably are the most violent (One of the brothers -- Wilhelm? -- had puritanical leanings, and didn't like sex in the stories -- so he replaced it with violence to keep things interesting. Yeah...)

  8. I was slightly disappointed in Ash, because there were things I thought should.could have been capitalized on, or at least fleshed out more, but for the most part, I liked it. Have you read it?

  9. Misty, I did, but was halfway through the book...maybe more before I realized this wasn't a boy/girl love story. What can I say? I'm slow. I think if I had known from the beginning - like had taken the time to read the back cover and understood what the book is about, I would have felt the same. I was sort of caught up in the magical aspect of the book and thought it was great.
